Jace can be a bit cautious and paranoid around humans at times, not for any specific reason but that's just how he is. But around Pokémon he's much more excitable and eager to try and interact, which doesn't often go well between scaring them away or getting chased. He's a bit pushy and rushes in to things too fast. If you get to know him, he's not a bad guy, but he will talk your ear off about his interests and research.
He'd rather sleep outdoors at this point as he's so used to it from over the past few years. He loves cooking with whatever he has to work with, but may end up making some odd concoctions. If any Pokémon was to show up looking for food, he'd be willing to hand it all over instead of eating any himself, caring more about them than himself.
Sometimes he can be seen wearing Pokémon costumes he made and trying to imitate Pokémon...It's...Awkward to witness. He often offends the Pokémon more often than not. He is trying his best. Damien was so offended by watching the attempts that he is trying to teach him how to think and be more like a Pokémon which is still more hilarious than anything.
Backstory
As is quite common in the world, Jace was meant to become a trainer when he was old enough. However, he didn't choose this on his own, his parents decided this for him. His dad was a trainer who fought in battles where gambling was involved. This was how the family made most their money, and they expected Jace to follow in his fathers footsteps. His mother was instead a Pokémon doctor, and she kept her husbands Pokémon in shape with frequent treatments, and...A few not so legal ones to give them more of an edge in fights.
Jace didn't see his parents all that often and he usually had a baby sitter. Due to the sketchy nature of the fights his father did, Jace never actually saw his fathers Pokémon battles, but when his father was home he'd tell him about it and Jace did seem to think highly of him. He did want to become a trainer like him, as far as he knew. He had no idea the battles being done were illegal, let alone that his mother was giving the Pokémon illegal treatments. He had never even seen his dads Pokémon as he'd always be told they have to rest and he can't bother them.
Once Jace was old enough to have his own Pokémon around age 15 in his case, he wasn't allowed to get the standard starter everyone else usually did. His dad gave him a shiny Pawniard. His dad bought it off the black market for him. A bladed Pokémon was quite the dangerous first Pokémon for a kid...But Jace was still thrilled. He was also quite fascinated by it's odd blue color.
His father had him come outside with him to try and teach him how to battle. When his father sent out an absol he frowned when he saw it was completely covered in scars, and was even missing the skin on one cheek exposing some teeth. This Absol looks nothing like what he usually sees of Trainers Pokémon, even champions...He asked what happened to it, and was told that's just part of battling. But Jace was...Unsettled. He knew this wasn't normal.
Not wanting to make his dad mad with too many questions, he sent his Pawniard out from it's pokeball. The poor thing looked horrified by the sight of the Absol but instead of running to hide behind Jace, it tried to just straight up leave. The Absol stopped it however. Jace tried to give the Pawniard commands, but it ignored him. His dad told him he'll have to work hard with it to teach it to listen.
His father walked up to the Pawniard and his kicked it hard towards Jace. Jace yelled in horror, asking why he did that and he ran over to the Pokémon to try and help it up but it pulled away, Jace forced it back in to the pokeball instead. His dad said sometimes you have to rough up a Pokémon to teach it. Jace didn't quite believe that...That isn't what he learned growing up.
He finally questioned his dad, between the fucked up absol and him kicking the Pawniard. He wanted to know what the hell was going on. His dad decided to explain the kinds of battles he does and how he expects Jace to join him when he's older. Even how his mother was using illlegal treatments to make them stronger. Jace didn't like this. He wants to be friends with pokemon, not abuse them for money. But he lied, he told his dad he'd try his best to be like him...He really didn't want to be like him at all anymore.
Jace would spend the next few days trying to befriend the Pawniard, but it wasn't going well. Despite his best efforts to show he meant no harm it was unhappy. Jace was eventually able to pet it, and even get it to take food from his hand, but it wouldn't listen to him at all still. It often was trying to sneak out of the house and escape. Jace felt like he was doing something wrong. In reality, the Pawniard just didn't want to be owned by a human. It wanted to be free again like before it was poached to be sold off. It never agreed to all this.
One night it popped out of it's ball when Jace was asleep and started trying to open the window. Jace woke up from the sound and got up from his bed, grabbing hold of it, asking it to stop trying to leave. The Pawniard finally snapped, it ripped it's blades in to Jace's face and tore him up, cutting his eye up in the process. Jace let out a pained scream and his parents rushed in to the room. Seeing what the pokemon had done to Jace, his dad was about to attack it back himself, just Jace held himself over the Pawniard before putting it back inside it's pokeball, not wanting it punished. His dad called him a fool and that it would only get worse if he doesn't put it in it's place.
Jace was taken to the hospital where he stayed for the next week as his face healed. Surgery was done on his eye, but while it healed back natural looking, his vision was shot. Deciding against trying more surgeries on his eye, he was to go back home. He insisted on having the Pawniard at the hospital with him. On his last day there, he went outside and released it from the ball. He told it to go free. To run and never come back. He knew it wasn't happy, he couldn't force it to be. It seemed confused at first, and then looked remorseful for what it had done to Jace. It knew he was just trying to be it's friend, it regret lashing out. Before it left, it carefully patted it's arms on his leg as if it was trying to hug him despite it's bladed body. And then it left. Jace never would see it again.
When Jace got home and said what he did, his parents were furious. His dad told him how much he had spent on it, and Jace called him an idiot and that Pokémon shouldn't be sold like that. He was told to either find it, or leave. He chose to leave. He was told he'd die without a Pokémon out in the wild, but he didn't care. His parents aren't the people he thought they were. They just used Pokémon for money and abused them. And so he left, and he never went back. Between the mistreatment of Pokémon and the fact his parents rarely spent time with him and were too busy, he didn't regret it much.
Jace often ended up sleeping at Pokémon centers when he could, or when he couldn't he'd sleep outdoors. Though a lot of those nights were hard to sleep through with Pokémon lurking in the dark, some aggressive. Eventually Jace ended up bumping in to some Team Skull grunts who invited him to join them. A group of outcasts and misfits was a place he could fit in, mostly. He mostly dealt with lesser tasks due to not wanting to use Pokémon in battles, doing things like fetching supplies...Though hanging with Team Skull resulted in him stealing said supplies. Maybe they weren't the best influence, but he still was happy with them. More so than when he was younger. He had friends and people who cared about him here. Rarely he'd borrow a Pokémon if he had to, but he was keen on making sure it was comfortable with what was going on before having it help it.
Eventually things got weird. After the incident with the ultra beasts, the team split up- Well, sort of, some still chose to hang together. Jace though, he decided he wanted to start studying Pokémon. Especially unique and strange ones. The ultra beasts fascinated him, but he knew they were a bit too dangerous to mess with. He ended up traveling from place to place, and by the time he was 22 he ended up in Unova. He was broke, not legally set up to actually do research, and had nothing but a tent and some other supplies, but he didn't care. Meeting and learning about new kinds of Pokémon was enjoyable to him, though he got a bit too close at times and has been chased and attacked many times. This doesn't discourage him.
Jace eventually ended up in the Desert resort where he met an odd Hybrid, a chimecho and spritzee hybrid. Not only were hybrids rare- But a hybrid between incompatible Pokémon? He was thrilled, and this Pokémon was quite friendly as well which allowed him to study her more. He heard that hybrids like this were supposedly a gift from Arceus, though he's unsure if that is true. A couple nights of hanging around this Pokémon and he lost track of her. He ended up venturing in to the desert and getting very lost. This is when he bumped in to a scrafty almost as odd with a unique evolution form. This scrafty wasn't quite as nice...
Jace got threatened a few times, but he never backed off, he really should work on his social skills...Eventually he annoyed the Scrafty enough that the scrafty ended up speaking to him just to tell him to fuck off. Well that had the opposite effect, a TALKING Scrafty? What else is in this desert?! He just got more excited and started asking a million questions. He found out the Scrafty was named Damien, and the hybrid from before was the Scrafty's friend as well named Gremlin.
Damien ends up tolerating Jace as long as he stops getting in his space so much. Jace learns a good bit from him, after all, what better way to learn about Pokémon than from one who can actually speak to you? Jace found out about Damien hate of humans and his disgust at the idea of being owned, which made Jace convinced all Pokémon thought that way- Like the Parniard from when he was a kid...But Damien assures Jace that some Pokémon are happy being with humans. Though he also mockingly called those ones idiots. Once Jace proved he has no interest in catching Pokémon, Damien was a lot more comfortable around him. Jace eventually ends up befriending the Scrafty as well, though a lot more effort was required...And for now he is sticking close to the area for his research, and learning how to approach some Pokémon better with Damien teaching him and translating what other Pokémon say at times. They'd also get in to some trouble together at times...
Other info
- Skills:
- He can sew and make clothes but mostly uses this skill to make cringe pokemon costumes to try and blend in with them. It rarely works.
- Actually decent at mimicking pokemon cries and sounds. Is not decent at knowing what the sounds mean until he finds out. Nothing says fun like accidently threatening a pokemon. Or nothing says awkward like mimicking a mating call and having a very confused and disgusted pokemon staring at you.
- Decent at sketching, he draws pokemon he finds and takes notes in a journal.
- Weaknesses:
- He's a human surrounded by freaky magical monsters and has none to protect him. Take a guess. His weakness is exploring alone.
- He's blind in one eye so that too obviously.
- Way to eager and excited, gets hurt a lot by approaching a pokemon too fast.
- Weapons:Pocket knife, Crowbar, and a Taser
- Likes:Partying, drinking, nature.
- Dislikes:Getting attacked by random pokemon, when his costumes don't work, people trying to push him to become a trainer again, cities.
- Bonus facts:
- He has several scars on his body from bothering the wrong creatures.
- Still wears his team skull outfit cuz he thinks it's cool looking, plus is just sort of a reminder of his past. Not fully negative. Not fully positive.
- He's multiracial. idk what to say specifically locations in pokemon aren't the same as real life. His blue eyes are a genetic thing.
- He sharpens his nails and paints them black. Why bro.
- He has a twinned toe...I'll draw it one day.
- Low key wishes he was a pokemon.
- Sexual info:
- 8 inch human dick. Also uncut because...This is the pokemon werld why would they steal your dick skin.
- He's a very soft top. Service top I guess. A gentle man. Also more of a sub. But he'll also do what you ask even if it's being rough or something, he likes to please even if he's awkward about it...
- Body worship.
- Because I'm sure someone will question it, no, he isn't in to pokephilia. Damien is the ONLY pokemon he's ever felt anything for due to being able to properly communicate and...They both feel a bit weird an confused about their attraction at first actually. It's like watching a bad drama I love these stupid fucks.
